Thirty students are in the room waiting for their teacher who has been detained for reasons unknown to the students. There is quiet anticipation, then the students begin to talk, a few pop out of their seats, and in a matter of seconds the classroom turns into a playground. There is loud talking, wads of paper flying through the air, youngsters snooping through their lunches, a little good-spirited wrestling among some rowdy boys, and the most responsible student trying to tell everyone to be quiet for surely the teacher's appearance is imminent. Indeed, the appearance is imminent. The teacher arrives, the students sheepishly find their seats, waiting for a scolding for their undisciplined behavior. The teacher smiles, greets the children, and tells them to take out their spelling books. No scolding, for children will be children. But with the teacher's arrival, it is time to fulfill the purpose of learning.
