When I was going to seminary, I got a phone call one afternoon from the local cemetery. A woman's voice at the other end of the line said: "Hello. We're calling people in your area to see if they would be interested in buying a burial plot. How are you doing today?" When I heard that, I had to pause for a couple of seconds, because I was afraid that if I did not answer the right way and assure her that I was fine, they were going to send the hearse for me right away.
We often avoid thinking about death. But our belief in the resurrection is a central part of our faith.
