The blind men and the elephant
The classic folktale about the blind men who attempted to describe an elephant started at
least 150 years ago in India or China or Africa, but it still has an important message for
pastors in today's world.
You remember the story: Six blind men in Indostan are assigned to a research committee to settle for once and for all what an elephant looks like.
I can't help wondering who picked six blind men for a task they were obviously not prepared to do. Why didn't the administrator in charge just pick one guy who could see to take a look at an elephant?
