The year was 1799, the armies of Napoleon were conquering all in their path. They
arrived the evening before Easter at the Austrian town of Feldkirch. Their plan was to
attack the next day. The town council, knowing there was no way to defend the town,
tried to come up with a plan of escape. One of them said, "Tomorrow is Easter Sunday,
let us leave all in God's hands and celebrate the day as usual."
