It had been a difficult year for Sharon, as her mother's health deteriorated and was placed
in a nursing home. As Sharon was cleaning out her mother's house, where she and her
sister had grown up, she happened upon a box of old home movies. Looking at the dates
she realized that while many of them chronicled her childhood, others were older taken
by her grandfather of her mother, aunts, and uncles as they grew up. Sharon happened
upon a treasure that she had completely forgotten about.
She borrowed a projector from a friend at church and began watching the old home movies. There were images of her mother as a young girl and of family celebrations. Watching the movies brought back many fond memories. She remembered events and conversations she had with her grandparents that she had not thought of in years. Her grandmother died when she was young. The movies showed her grandmother as young and healthy.
Sharon spent hour after hour watching the movies. She decided that she would pick out the best movies and have them made into DVDs for her children who were now adults with their own families. Since the old movies were silent she would ask her aunts and uncles to reminisce about the events of their childhood and their parents. This would be a wonderful gift that her children would treasure and share with their own children when they were older.
The apostle Paul wrote to young Timothy, pleading with him to keep the faith that was passed down to him from his mother and grandmother. "For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands," Paul wrote.
