Doug was soft-spoken, enjoyed music more than sports, reading more than partying, and never partook in locker-room bravado. Moreover, Doug was known as a softie who even cried at school when a fellow student was seriously injured in an auto accident. He was labeled as weak. But Doug was also the one to whom many students turned when they needed a sympathetic ear.
