Children's Activity
Object:
SHARING THIS WEEK'S GOSPEL THEME
AT SUNDAY SCHOOL AND AT HOME
Directions:
This activity is a special game of Simon Says. The group leader should come up with a theme -- "a day at the zoo," "cleaning up," "learning," or some other umbrella concept. Each Simon Says command will relate to the theme. For example, if the theme is "cleaning up," the commands could include having participants pantomime sweeping the floor, dusting, washing dishes, etc. Commands that Simon does not say should not relate to the theme. (For example, "Simon Says, 'wash the dishes,' " and so on would be a command, but "jump up and down" would not be.) When the game is finished, ask children to identify the theme of the commands. Talk about how Jesus' commandments to love God and love others are the theme of the Ten Commandments that God gave to Moses and how when we follow Jesus' commandments, we are following the commands that Moses received as well.
