Object:
a favorite toy that was not a toy when you were a child
(such as a computer toy -- Gameboys are popular and almost any
child could loan you one for this object lesson)
When I saw this (toy) I knew I had to have it! It looked like
so much fun. How many of you have one of these? (Let them
answer.) Good! Do you enjoy it? (Let them answer.) This is a nice
toy, but even though I said I "had to have it," I didn't really.
I could have done without it. In fact, when I was your age, I did
do without it. So did everybody else. That (toy) was not even
invented yet!
Today the reading talks about "contentment." Do you know what
"contentment" means? (Give them a chance to answer.) Contentment
means being satisfied with what you have.
