Advent is a time of preparation. The hustle and bustle of the season can lead us to lose focus on the whole purpose of our waiting. This first Sunday of the new liturgical year challenges us to discover and heed the signs that God, the Church, and those we know and love provide for our journey home to God. The path may not always be level, smooth, or clear, but God will provide markings on the road that will keep us moving in the correct direction. We must be watchful and journey in joyful anticipation toward the goal of finding Christ. Today we are challenged to navigate carefully in returning to the Lord.
