While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them, but their eyes were kept from recognizing him. (vv. 15-16)

Good morning, boys and girls! How many of you have a pair of sunglasses? (show sunglasses; allow answers) When do you wear your sunglasses? (allow answers) When it's sunny out, of course! But why else might somebody wear sunglasses? (allow answers)

Sometimes celebrities or famous people wear sunglasses so their fans don't recognize them. They wear sunglasses when they want some privacy. Why might they want some privacy? (allow answers) Some people are so famous that they can't even go to the grocery store without their fans tracking them down! Sometimes they just want to have some quiet time to themselves. That's why they try to cover their faces with sunglasses.
