Isaiah 5:1-7
In 1869, Fanny Crosby was addressing a group of working class men in New York City. It was a hot summer evening and she was sharing the gospel message of redemption. As she spoke a nagging thought kept running through her mind. She felt, somewhere in the crowd of workers, there was a boy who had wandered from his mother's home and teaching. So she made the plea that if there was such a man in the audience, he should come to her at the end of the service. In her own words Crosby recounts what happened next. "A young man of eighteen came forward and said, 'Did you mean me? I promised my mother to meet her in heaven, but as I am now living that will be impossible.'
