Have you ever heard someone say, "You can't believe everything you read," or "You can't believe everything you hear"? Most of the time, that is good advice. You can't believe everything you read or hear because people do not always tell the truth. Sometimes they exaggerate and sometimes they tell stories.

Suppose I told you that I was almost late this morning because a big, green alien came in my room and ate my alarm clock. Would you believe that? Of course not. I was almost late because I kept turning off the alarm until I ran out of time. What if you read in a magazine that you could get rich if you sent someone all the money you had? Would you believe that? I hope not. You have to be careful about what you read and hear; not everything is the truth.
