This section of Mark (1:29-31) could be the shortest, self-contained story in the Bible. "All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16). This brief passage makes a point. The woman was sick in bed. Perhaps she had a cold. No big deal -- she would have been well in a week with good rest. Still, the family brought the problem to Jesus' attention and he healed her immediately. None of our concerns is too small to be of concern to God.

So ... "That evening at sundown, they brought to him all who were sick or possessed with demons."...
