Teachers: Focus your activity on the second lesson this morning. The text speaks about rejoicing always. As children get closer to Christmas there is a tendency to think about what gifts are soon to be received. Remind your students that this morning's lesson tells us to be thankful for what we have. Have your class make a list of things worth thanking God for this Advent season. Ask your class for examples. Write these examples on a poster or chalkboard. Help students start the list by suggesting things like: family members, church family, God's love, and so on.

After you compile your list give each student a piece of paper. Have them write a letter to God. The letter could simply say, "Thank you God for ... (student mentions something here)." Have the student draw a picture of what he is thankful for on the letter.
